Gunmen move from house to house, kill 20 persons that just returned from cross over service in Rivers state

No fewer than 20 persons were murdered by gunmen who went from house-to-house in Omoku, the headquarters of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni local government area and its environs today January 1st 2018. According to reports,  most of the victims had just returned from their various churches were they had gone to attend the cross over service.
The incident happened at about 2 am. The motive behind the shooting is yet unknown.
The state government and the state police command is yet to comment on the horrific attack. Meanwhile the remains of the deceased persons have been deposited in the morgue while those that were injured during the attack are being treated at the state government hospitals.
