Nigerian Army: Fleeing Boko Haram Fighters Meet Waterloo In Pulka

Scores of Boko Haram fighters, who were on the run after the bombardment of their hideouts in Sambisa forest were, yesterday, gunned down by soldiers manning their secret escape-root in Pulka village near Gwoza town, army officials said.

After three weeks of strategic mapping of the areas occupied by Boko Haram fighters, the military had, on Sunday night, embarked on rapid raid of the insurgents’ enclaves by  attacking, simultaneously, from air and ground.

Spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, who confirmed this in a press statement, said a cache of arms were recovered from the killed insurgents

“During the encounter many of the terrorists were killed while one was captured alive”, said Colonel Usman.

“The troops also recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun, several rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions, 47 rifle magazines, 36 hand grenades and quite a number of Shilka gun empty shells.

“In a related development, troops have also dealt another decisive blow to the Boko Haram terrorists at Buni Yadi general area today afternoon.  At an encounter, the troops recovered a Toyota Hilux, 2 boxes of 7.62mm ammunitions and some Improvised Explosive making Devices cords.
