Rapper Efa Talks About His Kind Of Woman

 Efa Iwara is a Nigerian rapper and actor popularly known at ‘The Serial Woman Pleaser’ and for his role in the critically-acclaimed MTV TV series Shuga. In an exclusive interview with Naij.com, he talked about his career and explains his moniker.

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Efa Iwara, popularly known as EFA or E2DFA.  I am from Ugep, Cross River state.  I was born and raised in Ibadan. I am a rapper, actor, song writer, story-teller and ‘serial woman pleaser’. There have also been rumours that I am a ‘super hero’ at night. I guess only time will tell if they are just rumours or not.

For how long have you practiced music professionally?

I have been making music professionally since 2011. That was when I put out my first body of work called The Waka EP. But I have been putting down rap verses and waiting for this moment practically my whole life.



How rewarding is music?

Music is a very spiritual thing for me. It helps lift me when I’m down. Music has gotten me through a lot. Music has been very rewarding for me. Without music I have no idea how else I would be able to tell my stories (especially as these relate to) my trials and tribulations (in life). I could write books, but songs do the job a whole lot

Do you have any professional training?

Musically? The only training I ever received was not being able to sleep at night because my brother was either playing music or making music! Lol! I don’t have any professional music training. I just picked up stuff every day and constantly practised. But I studied Geography Science at the University of Ibadan.

Beyond music what else do you do?

As I said earlier, majorly acting and song writing. The acting was something I never thought I would get into while growing up. It’s always been a fun way for me to passtime.  I only just started taking it seriously. Acting is another way for me to express myself creatively and I enjoy acting almost as much as I enjoy making music. I also play cricket professionally for a division one club called Ibadan Metropolitan Cricket Club (IMCC)

There is a cricket league?

Lol! Yes, there is one. We were just promoted from division 2 to division 1. I get asked that question a lot. A lot of people don’t even know that I play the sport. I even played for my university and I still have some winners certificates stored in some old boxes at home. It is a gentleman’s sport and we need more people involved in it. This is something I will always love to champion.
