Dr. Idiat Adebule, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State has said that the process of reviewing curricula and distributing tablets to public school pupils will soon begin.
Adebule, who oversees the education ministry, said the initiative was informed by the need to realign the content of the schools’ curriculum.
She said this recently at a meeting with stakeholders in education in Lagos.
The deputy governor, who said that the curriculum review was crucial, added that it would help to determine the quality of work force produced in the state.
She also called on the support of private school proprietors, saying their contributions would help to move the sector to loftier heights.
“I want to meet with private schools’ owners in the state. I believe that there must be a review of the standards used to measure them and any private school that is not ready to abide by set standards will be shown the way out. We can only deliver if we understand each other, support and work cooperatively with passion and dedication,” she said.
She also canvassed the need for organising competitions for teachers, adding that such would help in building their capacity.
“We must ask ourselves those things that must be addressed immediately to take us from where we are. We have been given these appointments because there are assignments to be done and for us to achieve success in the sector, all hands will have to be on deck,” she added.
