I was Compelled to Concede Defeat — Ex Gov Ohakim

**I left left the sum of N13.5b for Rochas Okoroacha.
Immediate past governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim yesterday insisted he did not lose the Imo 2011 gubernatorial election. He said the only reason he lost the governorship seat to Rochas Okorocha of APGA was because he was forced to concede defeat.

Ohakim said though he knew he was not defeated at the election but agreed to step aside to avert a crisis in the state.
Speaking in Owerri on saturday at the public presentation of three books written by his aide, Mr.Ethelbert Okere, the former governor revealed that he left the sum of N13.5b in the treasury when he left office.


He said the money was the balance of a N18.5b bond which the state got from the stock market to finance the Oguta Wonder Lake and Resort Centre which he said has been abandoned by his successor. He accused the state government of not using the money for the project it was meant for.

Ohakim said that since he left office Imo State has being besieged by many problems believed to have been foisted on them by Okorocha government. He lauded the author of the books saying he captured 90% of the ills that took place during the 2011 governorship election Imo State.
