The five newspapers under review today Wednesday, December 2, have the issue of the Raymond Dokpesi’s arrest as their major focus.

The paper reports that the founder, proprietor and former chairman of Daar Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, the former governor of Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa, were arrested alongside the erstwhile national security adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, over illegal collection of monies amounting to billions of dollars and the arms procurement issues respectively.
It reports that after a month’s siege to his Abuja home and legal fireworks, the former Dasuki was yesterday, Tuesday, December 1, arrested by the Department of State Service and would be handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Dokpesi was picked up for allegedly collecting N2.1billion from the Office of the NSA. Bafarawa allegedly got N100million cash.

Bafarawa and Dokpesi were among the latest to be questioned by the security agents for allegedly receiving huge sums of money from the office of the embattled Dasuki.
Dasuki was taken from his Asokoro home in a pre-dawn raid by operatives of the DSS ahead of possible arraignment for breach of public trust and money laundering.
With ‘DSS clamps ex-NSA Dasuki in detention’ as its major headline being accompanied by the rider ‘As EFCC quizzes Dokpesi’, the Daily Sun reports that Dokpesi, who allegedly played a prominent role in the failed re-election bid of the former president Goodluck Jonathan reported at EFCC’s headquarters for questioning yesterday afternoon.
Dokpesi was reported to have allegedly played a key role in the purchase of arms for the army in the fight against insurgency. It was gathered that N2.1 billion was reportedly paid into his account.
The Guardian newspaper has its major headline on the governorship election slated for December 5 in Bayelsa state. With ‘Police ready for Bayelsa poll with 14,000 more officers’ as its headline, the paper reports thus:
To beef up security as the Bayelsa governorship election holds on Saturday, the inspector general of police, Solomon Arase, has deployed an additional 14,000 policemen in the state.
Besides, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned that those without valid permanent voters cards (PVCs) would not be allowed to vote. The electoral umpire said it would yesterday hand over 52,000 PVCs to the Bayelsa state electoral commissioner.
